General Motors (NYSE: GM) will announce results of an internal probe headed by outside lawyer Anton Valukas on Thursday.
Expectations of the investigation, which focused on why GM delayed a recall of faulty ignition switches for over a decade, should exonerate CEO Mary Barra, who assumed the CEO role on January 15, 2014. The ignition switches led to 13 deaths in the investigated time frame.
Valukas is expected to chide GM for its bureaucracy, saying safety issues weren't given enough priority while the financial condition of the company was also in distress, putting focus on cost-cutting instead.
The session will is called an ignition switch recall update,
according to an internal memo.
Shares of GM are up 3.5 percent Wednesday.
