Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE: FCX) is trading 2.6 percent higher into third quarter results due before the open tomorrow.
Analysts on average are looking for Freeport-McMoRan the company to post EPS of $2.12 on revenues of $4.63 billion.
Rising cooper and gold prices should continue to benefit the stock, which is up 48 percent since reporting second quarter results. Much of the upside was related to dollar weakness and commodities strength.
The stock is very commodity price sensitive and investors will want to see how much of the price increases are dropping to the bottom line. Investors will also want to see if the company will return cash to shareholders through share buybacks or dividend.
