Former chief financial officer of the collapsed financial institution Lehman Brothers, Erin Callan has officially announced her retirement from the securities business, according to a report from Charlie Gasparino on Fox Business Network on Tuesday.
After leaving Lehman just before its notably momentous September 2008 bankruptcy filing, Callan went to Credit Suisse Group (NYSE: CS) where she took a senior position with the firm.
Callan took a leave of absence from Credit Suisse in February 2009 during the federal investigations surrounding the downfall of Lehman. According to the report Callan's last day with Credit Suisse was December 31 citing a spokeswoman for the firm.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall of Lehman and whether senior executives including Callan, and former company CEO Richard Fuld misled its investors about Lehman's problems with its balance sheet before its collapse.
Callan was at the forefront of the defense of Lehman's financial health in the spring and summer of 2008 before the firm was forced to report its substantial losses. Callan stepped down as CFO and left the company completely shortly thereafter.
