Yesterday, the big ado was the CEO Carol Bartz was fired as Chief Executive of flailing Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO). Really, this may come as a surprise to no one, as Yahoo! has been stagnant under her leadership.
However, also in the release was that Chairman Roy Bostock commented, "we are committed to exploring and evaluating possibilities and opportunities that will put Yahoo! on a trajectory for growth and innovation and deliver value to shareholders." One employee who spoke with the Wall Street Journal also confirmed that Yahoo! is up for sale. The Journal reported, "one of these people said Yahoo is open to selling itself to the right bidder." A split-up has also been suggested.
This morning, Yahoo! is trading strong, up over 6.5 percent.
