Ford (F) Gearing Up for Electric Car Push

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) is looking to have electric cars account for 10-25 percent of its overall sales by 2020, according to a company official on Monday at the Shanghai auto show.

Ford's director of Global Electrification Nancy Gioia said the U.S. automaker is preparing to launch the Focus Electric this year and the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid next year.

The company also plans to introduce electric cars in China after the country said it wants to cut its carbon intensity by 17 percent through 2015.

Shares of Ford are down 13 cents to $14.57 in midday action Monday.
