Ford Motor (NYSE: F) is aiming to ramp-up global production by 50 percent, CEO Alan Mulally is expected to announce Tuesday.
According to several sources, the announcement will be made at an investors and analysts meeting in New York.
Mulally will highlight Ford's plans for sales of 8 million per year by 2015, up from 5.3 million last year.
Ford's focus will be on expansion in Asia, where the company posted a nice sales boost for China through May amid tougher comps.
Ideally, Ford would like sales in Asia-Pacific-Africa to account for about one-third of total company volume by 2020, up sharply from about 15 percent in 2010. Mulally also has said small cars will make up about 55 percent of Ford's sales by 2020.
