First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) is moving forward to secure a stronger presence in Chile.
A filing made with Chile's Environment Ministry, First Solar is seeking approval to build a 162-megawatt plant aimed at feeding into Chile's power grid. Cost of the project is expected to be around $370 million.
The plant would be located in Luz del Norte to supply the grid via the Carrera Pinto substation.
Shares of First Solar are just coming off of intraday highs, still up 5.8 percent today.
