First Poll on Microsoft (MSFT) Surface Pricing Evokes Expected Response

Is the rumored price on Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) upcoming Surface tablet PC series too high? According to one source: yes.

TheNextWeb put together a little poll following rumors Microsoft's Surface Windows RT could start out at $599. The site polled readers and here are the results:
  • About 85 percent said the price was "Far too high" or "A little too high."
  • About 10 percent found the price "just right."
  • Only 5 percent thought it was "lower than expected" or "a bargain."
It's not clear how many respondents participated in the polling, but one thing is clear: the price is high.

Even if just 10, 20, or 100 people participated, those are folks who check tech sites regularly (some from work, we're guessing). They are some of the core audience, the "techies" if you will, which those companies are cultivating.

Others might argue the questioning is premature, or skewed to evoke an answer.

The questions also didn't ask whether the respondents would purchase one, only that the price is too high (generally). Should more information, videos, and write-ups surface showing positive aspects for the tablets, viewpoints might change. Or, they could be solidified if the reviews are bad.
