Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE) En Fuego Again
Shares of Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM) and Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) are en fuego again today. Shares are up 25% and 9%, respectively.
Shares of both federally bailedout mortgage companies have more than doubled from the start of last week. On Monday of last week (8/3) shares of FNM were at $0.58 (now $1.25) and FNM and FRE was at $0.61 (now $1.84).
Yesterday, Freddie Mac reported a smaller-than-expected Q2 loss and would have reported a profit excluding dividend payments to the government.
