Facebook's (Nasdaq: FB) expected "empathy" button might be not what you expected.
Instead of a giant "Dislike" button, complete with a thumbs-down icon, the new voting measure might be filled with emoji.
According to TheNextWeb, Facebook filed a patent a few years back outlining something of a voting system, using different emoji faces to express a reaction to a story or update. Since Facebook has its own emoticon art, it should be readily available for integration, though the company is likely going to limit how many options will be available for reaction purposes.
Shares of Facebook are just about flat into the close Friday.
