Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) is living up to its "disruptor" moniker with the recent debut of video sharing on Instagram.
According to the latest data from Topsy.com, Facebook's debut of Instagram Video last week caused a marked drop in the number of users utilizing Vine.co videos on Twitter.
Instagram.com posts saw a slight spike, but were relatively flat at 1.5 million to 1.6 million over the last month. However, Vine.co posts moved from over 3 million earlier in June to below 1 million daily as of recent.
Whether or not Facebook will be able to monetize the new video service is a good question, but the new service has rekindled affiliation with Instagram.
Shares of Facebook are up 0.7 percent early.
