Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) is exploring new advertising media as it is said to begin allowing brands to implement gifs with their ads.
According to TechCrunch, Facebook said, GIFs can be a fun and compelling way to communicate, so we’ve started testing GIF support in posts and boosted posts for a small percentage of Facebook Pages. We will evaluate whether it drives a great experience for people before rolling it out to more Pages.
Basically, usage of gifs could be scrapped if users don't like them.
The gif ads won't go in the sidebar, but will only be allowed to be posted on Boosted
Page posts.
Shares of Facebook are lower in early trading Friday.
