In its quest to find new sources of revenue, Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) might end up hitting a gold mine.
According to AllThingsD, Facebook is making it easier for companies to push product photos into your stream.
The new ad option -- named "Collections" -- is not only very Martha Stewart-sounding, but also a potential competitor to mega-hit social sharing site Pintrest.
Currently, the product is still in testing mode with sample product images. In addition to the traditional "Like" button, Facebook is also testing out "Collect" and "Want."
Ways companies can saturated your news feed include you actually following the company or even if a friend follows a company. Any company with a Facebook page will be granted access to the service, though photos can't be turned into a "sponsored story" quite yet.
In the meantime, get ready for a bunch of Restoration Hardware-esque product photos to flood Facebook in the coming months.
Shares are down about 2 percent Monday stemming from a downgrade at BTIG earlier.
