Entergy (ETR) in Focus Following Super Bowl 'Surge'

Entergy Corp (NYSE: ETR) is on watch Monday following one of the most-televised flubs in recent years.
The utility company powers many southern states, including Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana...which contains the city of New Orleans. On Sunday night, millions of viewers around the globe bared witness as half of the Superdome went dark during the most-watched event of the year: the Super Bowl.
In the third quarter, lights in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome -- which is situated in the Central Business District of New Orleans -- went dark. Entergy and SMG, which manages the MB Superdome, said that equipment which manages the electrical load into the stadium sensed an abnormality. The piece was located on equipment that intersected with Entergy's feed into the building worked like it should and opened up a break to contain the issue.
Though the Baltimore Ravens ended up winning the game, the 34 minute delay shifted momentum into the San Francisco 49ers favor, allowing the game to end with just a few points separation, versus the 28-6 lead Baltimore had into the outage.
Shares of Entergy are flat in early trading.
