September 13, 2012 1:39 PM EDT
Because, why let Microsoft have all the fun?

According to an announcement from the company, eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) is planning to change is corporate logo.

Out is the crazy logo of yesteryear, with its ill-aligned, multi-colored, "edgy" look. In is a sophisticated, more aligned, sans serif, less edgy, multi-colored look.

That's right, same colors, different font. eBay president Devin Wenig commented, "Our refreshed logo is rooted in our proud history and reflects a dynamic future. It’s eBay today: a global online marketplace that offers a cleaner, more contemporary and consistent experience, with innovation that makes buying and selling easier and more enjoyable. We retained core elements of our logo, including our iconic color palette. Our vibrant eBay colors and touching letters represent our connected and diverse eBay community...The eBay logo is known the world over, so changing it was not a decision made lightly. The time felt right."

So, you can see the logo on this page or click here for a direct link.

As a reminder, this is that Microsoft selected for its logo.

Shares of eBay are up about 1.5 percent Thursday.
