DryShips (DRYS) Stock Surges in Afternoon Trading; Stock Up 17%

Shares of DryShips (Nasdaq: DRYS) have spiked in afternoon trading. After trading about 10% higher for the majority of today's session, the stock has now jumped even higher, currently trading up about 17% to $15.12. Notably, DryShips is also seeing heavier-than-normal volume, with about 29 million shares traded today, which compares to its average daily volume of 22 million shares.

Since the beginning of 2009, shares of DryShips have skyrocketed by more than 41%.
