Doug Kass Bids Twitter Trading World Farewell

June 17, 2013 7:47 AM EDT
Over the years, micro-blogging site Twitter has quickly gained popularity among the trading set. But today the Twitter trading world got smaller.

Popular hedge fund manager and theStreet.com personality, Doug Kass, said he has had it with all the hate being generated from the platform and is calling it quits... at least for the time being.

In a series of tweets over the weekend, Kass explained his move:

"I've been on twitter for a while now. I try to provide thoughtful tweets that may help traders/investors. But too many haters."

"As I reflect on Father's Day, life is far too short to be exposed to haters. So I have decided to leave this platform for while."

"I have always preferred the high road and that is the route I will take."

"To lovers, friends and even haters. Happy Father's Day - see you back here at some time in the future. But not for awhile."

"@pvitha Not really, P. The haters will have you think that. I have better things to do with my time that fight battles. Not in my makeup"

"Haters dont win or lose in my decision. I win. I give out my tweets for free and dont try to sell anything to be honest."

@ByrneTSCM To Burn Baby Byrne - life too short.i was brought up to believe that debate can be value added if respectful and not ad homenem."

Kass has been known on Twitter for his "gnome" - which has made some prescient and not-so-prescient calls over the years. He has also made some "gun to the head" predictions, again with varying accuracy.

Overall, Kass is very plugged into Wall Street and was a valuable asset to the Twitter trading world. He will be missed. Hopefully, he comes back soon.
