Dendreon (Nasdaq: DNDN) could be headed lower today following reports that its prostate-cancer treatment Provenge might not be selling well.
The WSJ noted today that Dendreon's go-to product has been met with lagging sales amid increasing competition from medicines that are easier to administer as well as doctors' skepticism about the product's efficacy.
Provenge works by drawing cells out of a patients blood, processing them outside the body, and then infusing the cells back in to jumpstart the patient's own immune system against prostate tumors.
Shares are flat on the session Friday.
