Dell, Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL) has placed orders for about 10 million business-use notebooks, Taiwan-based ODM Compal Electronics said Monday.
Delivery is expected in 2012, according to the source.
Of the total order, Compal received 7 to 8 million, while Foxconn, which also manufactures for Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), received orders for 2 to 3 million units. Compal is expected to manufacture about 90 percent of Dell's shipments of business-use notebooks in 2012, according to Digitimes.
To keep it in perspective, Compal expects to ship 48 million notebooks, 3.8 million tablet PCs, and 8 million LCD TVs in 2011.
