Dell's (DELL) First US Smartphone, 'Aero' Now Available on AT&T

While the news is likely not driving the stock down this afternoon (especially considering the recent bidding war for 3PAR), investors are getting their first look at Dell's (Nasdaq: DELL) first-ever US smartphone today.
The Dell "Aero" is now available for $99.99 with a new two-year contract with AT&T (NYSE: T) or $299.99 without the contract.
Although Dell had previously offered up such a device with the "Mini 3i" smartphone in China last year, little details about Mini 3i sales have emerged from the company.
Dell's release of the Aero comes on the heels of the company's "Streak" launch, a five-inch tablet device which can also make phone calls. Appropriately, most analysts and pundits are pointing out that such a dynamic could also cause a possible conflict of interest. On the other hand, if you are a smaller person, you're probably not going to want to wrestle a giant tablet device to your ear.
Both the Aero and Streak utilize Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android operating system (though sources are saying that its running the Android 1.5 version, despite 2.2 being available currently). The Aero will fully support Adobe's Flash Lite, which power's Internet video and other media. Apple's Steve Jobs had openly criticized Adobe's Flash for being out-of-date, and recommends using HTML 5.
Shares of Dell are down 3.6% to $11.51 today.
