Credit Suisse raised its price target Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) from $4 to $8, although they maintain their Neutral rating. The analyst said the company will likely report a smaller-than-expected Q2 loss. That said, the firm said Ford is carrying too much debt and will have to reduce it through exchange offers and/or equity sales.
Another analyst from JP Morgan said Ford's gross debt will rise to $40 billion by 2011 and the company will sell or swap shares to trim its liablities. He said shareholders may be diluted 20% over the next 6-12 months. The analyst said this is a positive for the company's long term survival. The JP Morgan analyst also maintained a Neutral rating of Ford.
