Digitimes said today that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Samsung may be working toward putting the feature on their next flagship smartphone models in 2013.
Digitimes believes Samsung will use Qi wireless charging technology run by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), though the feature might be an extra purchase for Galaxy S IV owners.
Apple may use internally-developed wireless charging technology, though Digitimes did admit it was unsure of whether the next iPhone would be equipped with the technology.
Other memebers of WPC include Nokia (NYSE: NOK), LG, Motorola (Nasdaq: GOOG), HTC, and Sony Mobile (NYSE: SNE).
