Come Fly the Friendly Skies...With Apple Maps (AAPL)

Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) mobile mapping application might still be a little rusty. That is, unless you're adventurous.

According to the BBC, a Alaska's Fairbanks International Airport has had to close one of its runways due to a flaw in Apple's latest Apple Maps app.

FIA said that within the last two weeks, two motorists have driven along the airports fairway and across one of its runways. It should be noted that Apple Maps directed users along the fairway, but didn't specifically say to cross a runway. That's just plain, old human error.

A spokesperson for FIA told a local newspaper, We asked them to disable the map for Fairbanks until they could correct it, thinking it would be better to have nothing show up than to take the chance that one more person would do this. The airport has since erected barracks to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

It wasn't made clear how busy the fairway was in the reports.

Shares of Apple are up in late trading Wednesday.
