Ciena (Nasdaq: CIEN) shares are firmly higher on the session following a news release earlier this morning from Verizon (NYSE: VZ).
According to the release, Verizon has deployed the Ciena 5430 Reconfigurable Switching System to extend its control plane infrastructure. More from the release: "It features advanced Optical Transport Network aggregation and switching software to provide tremendous growth and resiliency for enterprise customers that require high-speed, high-performance transparent wavelength services with higher bit rates and greater availability than what conventional SONET networks provide."
Shares of Ciena are 7 percent better on the session.
