C.R. Bard (BCR) Breaks Out to New All-Time High

Shares of C.R. Bard (NYSE: BCR) have broken out of a trading range today, setting a new 52-week high at $90.75. The stock has felt resistance around the $89 level, but today buyers took shares of Bard past this level, moving the stock price past the $90 benchmark for the first time in the Company's history.

Bard has traded relatively flat throughout much of 2007, up about 8% year-to-date, compared to a 3% gain in the S&P 500 Index.

Shares of Bard are feeling upward pressure this week as the Company announced a licensing agreement with Genzyme (Nasdaq: GENZ) on Monday. Under the terms of agreement, Genzyme will allow Bard to manufacture and market the Sepramesh(R) IP hernia repair product line and also incorporate the related Sepra(R) coating technology into the development of future hernia repair applications.
