Warrent Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Class B (NYSE: BRK.B) shares started trading anew today after completing the recently approved 50:1 stock split. The split resulted in a stock price in the $70-range, after trading at $3,476 yesterday.
Shares of Berk-B closed today at $72.72, up 4.6% on the session. Volume was over 14 million shares.
Buffett commented on today's performance in the stock following the split on Fox Business Network. "There's been a little bit more action than is ideal today," Buffett said. "In the end, we hope we have shareholders who are in sync with us...We don't want any day traders."
On the future of Berkshire Hathaway's business acquisition, Buffett said, "We'll keep buying businesses, as long as I'm alive we'll keep buying businesses...we'll try to buy them for cash, sometimes we may have to use some stock, but we'll use as little stock as possible."
