Boeing (BA) Up Following Tragic 777 Crash on July 6th

July 8, 2013 6:47 AM EDT
Boeing (NYSE: BA) shares are indicated higher Monday following a crash over the weekend in San Francisco that left two dead.

Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashed into San Francisco International Airport on July 6th. It was reported that pilot error may have been the cause of the disaster, versus any mechanical failure with the aircraft.

One of the pilots was said to be transitioning from flying a Boeing 737 and had just 43 hours on the Boeing 777.

Boeing might also be drawing positive sentiment from the design of its aircraft. Despite the devastation which can be seen from aftermath photos, the survival rate on such a crash is a big positive. Just two of the 307 on board -- including 291 passengers and 16 crew -- survived the ordeal.
