Boeing (BA) May Oust Airbus for Large Monarch Airlines Order

Boeing (NYSE: BA) is said to be nearing a deal to sell 30 aircraft to Monarch Airlines.

According to Reuters, book value on the deal will be around $3 billion.

U.K.-based Monarch has been a customer of Airbus (OTCBB: EADSY) for some time. One spokesperson for the company said, Monarch Airlines is at an advanced stage in evaluating a range of options for re-equipping its fleet to enhance the economics of the airline and the standards of service it provides to its millions of customers ... A further announcement will be made in due course when this process is complete.

Shares of Boeing are up 0.7 percent.
