Boeing (BA) Lower as VivaAerobus Places Large A320 Order

As mentioned last week, Mexico's Aeroenlaces Nacionales SA (VivaAerobus) put in an order with Airbus for 52 A320-family aircraft. The deal is worth about $5.1 billion.
In total, the order includes 40 A320neo jets and 12 A30ceo jets. Deliveries will start in April 2014 and run through 2021. The airline also received an option to acquire another 40 A320neo aircraft in the future.
The move by VivaAerobus comes as Airbus and Boeing (NYSE: BA) have moved to make more-efficient narrow-body aircraft in recent years. Battles have been won and lost by each side over the last year and the competition has heated up.
VivaAerobus currently employs 19 Boeing 737-300 aircraft. Shares of Boeing are down 0.8 percent.
