Boeing (NYSE: BA) shares are active early Friday amid news from LatAm airline GOL Linhas (NYSE: GOL) related to its Webjet unit.
GOL will be shutting down the unit. The airline noted that the Boeing 737-300 aircraft in use are out of date and not adequate to use in the Brazilian marketplace.
Though the unit will be closed, GOL did not indicate its intention to purchase new aircraft from Boeing. Overall, GOL is looking to reduce its domestic supply (ASK) by between 5 percent and 8 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2013. GOL will return 20 aircraft by the end of 2012.
Boeing shares are indicated for a higher open Friday morning.
