BlackBerry (BBRY) Taps SAP Talent for Broader Move into Enterprise

December 18, 2013 5:00 PM EST
BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) keeps poaching executives from SAP AG (NYSE: SAP).

Earlier this week, BlackBerry announced that it hired John Sims as President, Global Enterprise Services. Sims will join BlackBerry in January from SAP (NYSE: SAP), where he served as President of SAP's Mobile Services business.

Today, BlackBerry said it hired James Mackey was appointed Executive Vice President for Corporate Development and Strategic Planning and Mark Wilson was named Senior Vice President of Marketing. Mackey comes from Open Text, where he was SVP of Corporate Development, but also worked at SAP as head of Corporate Development.

Wilson is joining from Avaya, but was Senior Vice President of Corporate and Field Marketing at Sybase, which was acquired by SAP in 2010.

Given that SAP has seen much success in the enterprise segment, this appears to be a smart set of moves for BlackBerry as it looks to wedge itself back into the corporate environment via handsets or software.

Shares of BlackBerry are flat late Wednesday.
