BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) is positive early Tuesday following news that the company released its Q5 smartphone in India.
The Q5, which sports a 3.1-inch touch display, 1.2-GHz dual-core processor and QWERTY keyboard, will price at 24,990 rupees. It is the third BB10-equipped device to launch in India this year.
BlackBerry announced the Q5 earlier this year. The device is more of an entry-level smartphone versus the higher-quality Q10 model. This will allow BlackBerry to potentially grab more emerging market attention than if it had nothing but higher-end devices lining the shelves.
Competition for the Q5 includes Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Sony (NYSE: SNE) XperiaSP, and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Lumia 820.
