BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) shares are on watch Tuesday morning following commentary from CEO John Chen on CNBC.
Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Manila, Chen noted that BlackBerry was doing reasonably well now, from a financial standpoint...
Chen also said that BlackBerry has very high fixed costs, but [handset] profitability will come next year.
BlackBerry's latest smartphone -- the Priv -- has received much acclaim and notably runs Google's Android operating system. The device is expected to make BlackBerry relevant again, though the handset is only carried on AT&T (NYSE: T) at the moment. BlackBerry is hoping to get the Priv on T-Mobile's (NYSE: TMUS) sometime soon.
Shares of BlackBerry are indicated for a higher open Tuesday.
