Bitcoin might not the be center of attention it was late in 2013, but the virtual money is still kicking around and now making waves in the only place where the unusual seems normal: Las Vegas.

Reports out Tuesday have The D Las Vegas Casino Hotel and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino beginning to accept Bitcoin in certain areas. (Both of the casinos are run by the same owner.) Locations will include the front desks and gift shops.

The transactions will be process through BitPay.

Bitcoin allows users to buy items just like they might with a credit-/debit-card, or through a payment platform like eBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY) PayPal.

Derek Stevens, CEO of the D and Golden Gate, commented, I'm proud that the D and Golden Gate will be the first casino properties to accept Bitcoin ... We're located in the growing high-tech sector of downtown Las Vegas, and like all things downtown, we're quickly adaptive to new technology. The timing is right for us to launch this initiative.

Bitcoin last traded at about $817.20.
