Best Buy (BBY) to Lose its Apple (AAPL) iPad Privileges?

April 8, 2011 9:43 AM EDT
Numerous rumors have claimed that Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) may have angered Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) by holding back on stock of the popular iPad 2, which may leave the retailer "blacklisted" from further sales of the tablet.

CrunchGear reported earlier this week that Best Buy was holding off on sales of its iPad 2 units once daily quotas had been met, a practice that has caught the ire of Apple.

"No less than (Apple Chief Operating Officer) Tim Cook is involved in this little snafu, and will be helping with the negotiations," the report said.

This may be a delicate situation for both companies, as Best Buy goes beyond what most retailers do for Apple by setting up boutiques in stores, making the partnership a positive for both sides.

Shares of Best Buy are up 3 cents to $30.02 in early market movement on Friday.
