In an article published over the weekend, Barron's writers Michael Santoli called Waste Management (NYSE: WM) "dead money". He also said the stock is at risk of declining 10 to 15 percent from its current price of $35.66 to $30 if the company continues to miss on earnings.
Waste Management pays investors a 4 percent dividend, but even this apparent benefit could become a drag on the stock price down the road, especially if market rates rise. Overall, notes Santoli, revenue, earnings, margin, and cash flow are stagnant and the overall story is "sloppy."
