In Barron's this weekend, it speculated that Nike (NYSE: NKE) report strong earnings with margin expansion this quarter.
Nike owns half the sneaker market, but still managed to grow its market share in this tough economic environment. Nike has almost no debt, and $3.5 billion or 12% of its market cap is actually in cash.
Barclays analyst Robert Drbul told Barron's that hethinks this quarter could mark the bottom in gross margins for Nike: "Historically, this is a rewarding time to own the shares of Nike."
