Baidu (BIDU) Can't Keep Up Its Parabolic Growth Rate in 2011

December 15, 2010 11:10 AM EST
Baidu Inc (Nasdaq: BIDU) said it sees its top-line and bottom-line growth rates softening is 2011.

When asked whether the firm can keep up its stellar top and bottom-line growth rates into 2011, senior vice president of business operations Haoyu Shen said, "No ... We have such a bigger base." Comment were made at the Reuters China Investment Summit today.

Baidu benefited in 2010 from the rebound in the Chinese economy, a new keyword advertising system and Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) problems in China.

"For these reasons, it most likely won't repeat itself next year," Mr. Shen said.

Baidu is also open to acquisition opportunities, Shen indicated. Opportunities in contextual advertising will also be explored by Baidu.

Shares of Baidu are flat today at $106.67.
