There is a report going around that could take some of the air out of the surging rare earth stocks. According to reports Mineweb, Japanese searchers created the world's first artificial rare metal, an alloy similar to palladium.
Palladium is not one of the 17 rare earth elements, but the report shows that artificial solutions could fill the void from China export cuts.
So far these reports have done little to impact the rare earth stocks:
Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE: MCP) +15%, Rare Element Resources Ltd. (AMEX: REE) +8%, Avalon Rare Metals, Inc. Ordina (AMEX: AVL) +22%
