Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) shares are hitting pre-market highs Tuesday as investors continue to get behind the prospects for Apple moving forward. Shares are indicated about $4 higher to $556.

Following the recent run, just how well is Apple doing? With a market cap at $515 billion as of Monday's close, Apple is now worth one Facebook (Nasdaq: FB)(NYSE: FB) more than second-place Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM). Exxon currently boasts a cap of just over $400 billion while Facebook is said to have a valuation of roughly $100 billion, data from secondary trading markets shows.

The best part is crude oil prices which have been on the rise over the last several weeks, maintaining a spot above $100 per barrel since about February 13th. Since then, Exxon has moved just 1.3 percent higher and is up only 1.6 percent on the year. Conversely, Apple is up 9.8 percent since mid-February and 36 percent for 2012.

According to sources Monday, Apple iPad sales were still on fire amid initially mixed reactions about the new tablet.
