Apple (AAPL) iPhone Pushes T-Mobile to One of Its 'Strongest Weekends'

April 15, 2013 3:29 PM EDT
Does Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone still have some magic in it? You bet it does.

According to CNET, T-Mobile USA had one of its "strongest weekends" following launch of Apple's premier handset last week. Specific figures weren't made available and won't likely alter sales projects by a significant number, but T-Mobile marketing chief Mike Sievert said sales of the device did "better than expected."

T-Mobile has around 33 million US subs.

Most of the customers opted for a no-contract plan, as touted during an event last month. T-Mobile's no-contract effort comes following a recent announcement from larger peer Verizon (NYSE: VZ) that subs wouldn't be able to upgrade their device until the full 24-month duration of their contract is complete.

Shares of Apple are down about 2 percent Monday.
