Next Tuesday, St. Patrick's Day, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) will preview new software for its popular iPhone. Apple will provide a "sneak peek" at the iPhone 3.0 software, along with information about the new software kit that third-party vendors use to create applications for the device.
Apple is hosting the software launch event at its corporate campus in California.
Apple sold 6.9 million devices in the September quarter and 4.3 million in the December quarter and over the course of 2008, the company sold over 13.7 million iPhones, ahead of its 10 million iPhone target.
Some are speculating the iPhone's new software may include features where users can run multiple applications at the same time, which is something the Palm (Nasdaq: PALM) Pre can do.
