Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) really is on your side.
According to reports over the weekend, the company is looking to block apps which try to access UDIDs (unique device identifiers). UDIDs, simply put, are serial numbers used by mobile networks to identify specific mobile devices such as Apple's iPad and iPhone.
The move comes as Apple announced it would move to kill UDID access last August with the release of iOS 5.0. Apple hinted at developers which would need to develop their own brand of "opting-in" software to identify users.
With pressure from Congress over privacy issues heating up, Apple has setup two teams of app reviewers specifically dedicated to evaluating app submissions with UDID software embedded.
Some UDID alternatives for ad companies include MAC addresses and OpenUDID.
Shares of Apple are about 0.4 percent better Monday morning.
