Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) has surpassed Google, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) as the world's most valuable brand, according to data from WPP's Millward Brown. The list was collected for Millward Brown's BrandZ Top 100 list over the weekend.
The survey has Apple with a brand value of $153 billion, which was an 869 percent increase from $16 billion in 2006 when the Brandz rankings were launched.
The calculation takes many factors into consideration, including how a company's brand contributes to to earnings, "valuation of intangible assets, measures of customer perception and an estimate of growth potential."
Apple shares are up 0.3 percent to $347.70 Monday morning.
