Keep the ball rolling. That's always been a mantra at Cupertino, CA-based Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).

We think.

With the recent debut of Apple's new iPhone 4S -- and much of the pomp and circumstance evaporating -- many are turning to when Apple will release its new tablet device.

The wait may not be as long as originally expected. According to AllThingsD and Susquehanna research, Apple is putting its iPad 3 into production.

Susquehanna said that, according to supply chain checks, Apple is increasing its fourth-quarter iPad builds from 11 to 13 million, to a range of 12 to 14 million or so.

This equates to 600,000 to 1 million iPad 3 builds, Susquehanna noted. Launch of the device may also come in early 2012, Susquehanna noted.

Related, Susquehanna believes Apple shipped 11.5 million iPads in the third-quarter, and is poised for 13 million shipments in the fourth.

Apple shares are 2.3 percent higher Friday morning.
