Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is said to come under scrutiny of a class-action lawsuit which claims the company didn't inform users of how much memory its latest operating system would use.

SiliconBeat noted that the suit also claims Apple prodded users to buy more storage space in iCloud following the iOS 8 update.

The case was filed in San Francisco federal court on Tuesday. The class action alleges that iOS 8 takes up as much as 23.1 percent of advertised storage space on Apple gadgets, but few consumers realized that when making purchases.

The complaint covers purchases of devices with iOS 8 and those with users that have upgraded to the operating system.

Shares of Apple are down 0.8 percent.
