Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is on 'watch' Thursday following reports of update sales metrics for its Apple Watch device.
AppleInsider cites Slice Intelligence data in saying that about 2.79 million Apple Watches have sold since the device launched last April. Data comes from analysis of receipts from two million consumers, with 20,000 saying they had bought an Apple Watch.
It was also said that about 17 percent of those consumers, or about 474,300, also bought an extra band with the device. The black sport band was the most popular model sold.
Shares of Apple are lower in early trading Thursday.
