Apple (AAPL) Rumored 'iWatch' Might Not Appear Until Late 2014

Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) shares are lower amid reports that the much-speculated 'iWatch' won't make its debut until late 2014. Or, will it even be a watch.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. as cited by AppleInsider, said that production of the device will ramp in the latter part of next year.
Kuo said it will be Apple's foray into the wearable computer market and won't necessarily be a time-telling device or "a device that displays information from other Apple products."
Instead of an OLED screen, Kuo thinks Apple will go with GF2 touchscreen technology, which is currently used in the iPad mini and iPod nano products.
Kuo thinks the Apple product would have biometric functionality and a "cure user identification mechanism."
On the later than expected launch, Kuo said that parts might not be readily available given a potential spike in demand for the device and iOS would need "significant" changes for the different features and functions it would be operating.
Shares of Apple are down 0.6 percent Thursday.
