Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) has reportedly wooed away the man who helped build Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ: MSFT) data centers that powered its cloud operations.
Kevin Timmons, the general manager of datacenter services at Microsoft, has left the company and will reportedly join Apple's cloud building team, according to Data Center Knowledge.
Apple has been rumored to be preparing a major overhaul of its MobileMe Internet application some time this year. It was reported on Wednesday that Apple is working to assemble a small team to build the "future of cloud services."
The company has previously announced that it is expanding cloud services for iOS devices including the iPhone and iPad.
Shares of Apple are down 1 percent to $333.46 in late market trade on Thursday.
