Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is said to be ramping efforts to get consumers to trade-in old iPhones ahead of what many expect will be an unveiling of the next-generation iPhone in September.
In June, it was reported that Apple and Brightstar started a program for users to turn in old devices for a discount or credit toward other Apple items, and Apple itself has been running a trade-in program on its website for some time. Not much has been said on the Brightstar deal since then.
Today, MacRumors pointed out that Apple is prepping workers on how to handle trade-ins starting next week. Whether employees will be pushing the practice or simply getting up to speed on how to make the program run smoothly wasn't made clear.
Shares of Apple are up 0.5 percent Monday. The company is expected to hold a special event on September 10th.
